Why Our Children Suffer the Same

If it’s true that everything happening to our people reflects what is happening within our people, then what is the gun violence epidemic reflecting from the inside of us? 

If violence to children is happening in our country at such an alarming rate, what kind of violence have we been perpetrating, as a country, to the children of other countries, that we’d rather not see?

The violence our government projected far across the globe, killing innocents abroad, has returned, like demonic spawn, to us, its source. War mongers, kept cold and starving by their lord and master, fear, long for violence in the secret places of their heart, and they call war holy and patriotic, so that we’ll sacrifice our children for the wars they want. 

The brokers of war know our willingness to sell our soul for a pocket-full of treasure and a belly full of pride, so they tempt us with trifling treasures and vain pursuits. They use fear and hate, that we might sell our sovereignty, individual and collective, to a war machine whose only fuel is death. 

Although it was manufactured, we consented to violence waged around the world in our name, and now we wonder why our children do suffer violence the same.
